Indian Balasm

IMG_5134

Indian Balasm is an escapee from gardens and is taking over from native species on river banks. It’s just reached the edge of our field, where the spring meets the river. It’s such a shame to take it out because it’s beautiful. It also starts to go limp almost immediately, but I shoved some in a vase and did a quick sketch. I used the colours I had in my portable palette, my lamy safari fountain pen and a few watercolour pencils. I still haven’t changed them around from when I went to London and I really missed a cool yellow for the bright leaves. I shall have to remember to swap them out before I start sketching something else!
