Old work – some of my first plein air painting

I went to hartlepool with my mums art group for a day and painted boats, hanging on to my all my art materials in the wind. That is what convinced me I needed a pocharde box. I got the best compliment, a group of school kids walked past. One of the said ‘Cor, she’s a real artist!’. There was a man on one of the two boats above, messing about on boats. When he came over and had a look, he asked why I hadn’t painted him in. I had written him off as going to move as soon as I committed to trying to put him in my painting. I painted a lot slower then, had no mobile phone camera, and wasn’t confident enough to give figures in the landscape a try.
