I was watching a youtube video by Stefan Baumann. And the video boils down to: if you want to get better at painting trees…. go paint trees.
So that is what I did. I walked out my studio and dragged my stuff with me. I parked in front of a tree I knew would have nice light as it’s part of my morning dog walk.
I started with a zoomed out view and zoomed my way in as I went. They’re small 5×7″ and they’re primed with an absorbent ground which I have been enjoying painting on. I feel I got better the further into I get got. My mum likes he first one the best. She’s getting a critical eye! Or just doesn’t appreciate paintings of bark.
